Subsea & Intervention Engineer

Oslo

AKOFS Offshore provides vessel-based subsea well construction and intervention services to the oil and gas industry. Our organization covers the full lifecycle from conceptual and technology development through project execution to offshore operations. We operate three advanced offshore vessels, AKOFS Seafarer, AKOFS Santos and Aker Wayfarer, supporting subsea operations in Norway, Brazil and internationally.

We are looking for an experienced Subsea & Intervention Engineer to strengthen our Project & Technology team.

This is a broad technical role combining engineering, technology development and project execution with direct exposure to offshore operations. You will work with the development, upgrade and lifecycle management of subsea intervention systems and associated module handling and fluid systems, from early concepts and tenders through engineering, fabrication, testing, installation and operational support. The position is part of the Project & Technology group and reports to VP Projects & Technology.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Develop subsea intervention systems and technologies, including hydraulic and ROV-based intervention solutions
  • Develop module handling systems for intervention equipment, umbilicals and other subsea downlines
  • Develop fluid mixing, pumping, circulation and flowback systems supporting subsea intervention operations
  • Participate in technology and product development as well as projects for new equipment, upgrades, overhaul and recertification of existing systems
  • Take ownership of defined engineering work packages and, where assigned, responsibility for the overall delivery and integration of complete systems
  • Prepare technical input to tenders and develop execution plans, schedules and budgets
  • Participate in design development, technical reviews and relevant risk and reliability studies, including HAZID, HAZOP, FMECA and RCM
  • Follow up suppliers through engineering, fabrication and testing, including FAT, EFAT and SIT
  • Support installation, hook-up, commissioning, HAT, sea trials and operational start-up
  • Ensure appropriate technical and operational documentation, including manuals, maintenance information and spare-parts requirements
  • Provide technical support to offshore operations, both from shore and offshore when required
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key technology and equipment suppliers
  • Contribute to performance standards, maintenance strategies and the annual technical budgeting process
  • Contribute to the protection and development of AKOFS intellectual property where relevant
Qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant technical education and experience
  • Relevant experience from subsea, offshore or well intervention engineering
  • Experience with the design, fabrication and/or operation of well intervention equipment
  • Good understanding of subsea systems combined with practical understanding of equipment operation and maintenance
  • Good knowledge of applicable offshore HSE and quality requirements
  • Good written and spoken English

Experience with one or more of the following would be an advantage:

  • ROV-based subsea intervention systems
  • Module handling systems
  • Fluid mixing, pumping, circulation and flowback systems
  • Equipment fabrication, testing, installation and commissioning
  • Tendering and execution of offshore technology or equipment projects

For a senior appointment, we would typically expect 5+ years or more of relevant experience. Candidates with somewhat less experience but strong relevant technical competence are also encouraged to apply.

What we are looking for

You are technically curious and practically oriented, with the ability to translate engineering concepts into robust offshore solutions. You are comfortable taking ownership of your area of responsibility while working closely with colleagues, suppliers and offshore personnel across disciplines.

You enjoy working across the lifecycle of a technical solution, from initial concept and engineering through fabrication and testing to seeing the equipment operate offshore.

Why join AKOFS Offshore?

At AKOFS Offshore, you will work close to both engineering and offshore operations in an organization where technical ideas can become practical offshore solutions. The role provides broad exposure across technology development, projects, suppliers and operations and offers the opportunity to take genuine ownership of technical solutions and systems.

Location: Preferably AKOFS Offshore Head Office at Fornebu, alternatively our office in Stavanger. The position will involve occasional travel to suppliers, operational locations and AKOFS vessels.
